Diamonds actually can be a girls best friend!

When asked to find a non-standard funerary practice, one very specific one came to my mind... About five years ago I remember watching the news with my parents, and there was a segment on this new way to commemorate your loved ones...

BY TURNING THEM INTO DIAMONDS!!

My first thought was that is the creepiest thing I had ever heard! My second thought was how the heck do you turn dead people into diamonds. Well, after that news segment I didn't think about it again till now..

So I actually did some research and this is what I found out...

It was developed by a company in Switzerland called Algordanza and they have a competitor company in the states called LifeGem. The general idea of the whole process is that they compress the carbon in the ashes and put it into a diamond press and VOILA diamonds.. I know the process is a whole lot more difficult than that, but to be frank, I am not very good at science and I didn't really understand, so basically I would have to copy and paste how to do it from Wikipedia and we all know that that is a BIG NO NO! So I will link you to wikipedia for you to go check it out for yourself! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LifeGem)

Apparently, there was a Beethoven LifeGem made from some strands of his hair, so if you are really into Beethoven and have loads and loads of money then you should go for it!

This process is technically available to everyone in North America but it comes with a very large price point to create them ranging from $4000-$10,000.
